Project description
New build private home in Stourbridge.
Flat roofing works to two terraces totalling approx. 100sqm.
Roof Construction
Timber decking and falls by others, Sika Sarnafil G410-15EL Membrane fully adhered to the deck. G445-13 protection membrane welded to field area. Protection fleece then added to allow movement between 7mm rubber paving supports and PVC protection membrane. Finished with 20mm Porcelain paving tiles from the RYNO Quadro Porcelain range. The client selected NERO finish. The ballast selected by the client was not round so a further protection was put in place to ensure no damage to the field sheet and all ballast was bonded together using Sika ballast bond.
Challenges
From the start the project was hindered by a steel support that was larger than the design intent which reduced the working height of the finished roof level. The client would have preferred for the tiles bedded on sand cement but simply didn’t have room for the required build up. In addition – it rained every time we attended site to complete dry weather works.
Conclusion
The client is happy with the finish for his new terraces.
